Description:Dramatic, well-formed green fronds arch upwards from a spongy zebra-striped crownshaft. Tough fronds 7 to 11 feet long and 4 feet wide are resilient in heavy winds. The 4 to 7 inch wide trunk is dark green ringed with prominent white leaf scars. Slow growth. Requires good drainage, plenty of water and rich soil. Will tolerate early morning sun, but otherwise it requires a shady location. Cold hardy to 28° F. Rare palm from the cloud forests of New Caledonia.
