Description:Produces a 10 to 15 foot crown rosette of 30 inch long, very upright, pinnate, dark green leaves with silver undersides. Flower spikes are light purple followed by green ½ inch fruits ripening to red. Gray trunk is swollen and flared at base. Grows in an upright manner with a trunk up to 65 feet tall and 1 foot wide. Needs sun to part shade, regular summer water, and a well-drained soil. Young plants tender, old established trees hardy to 29 ° F.
